Calling to Recorded Music
I can provide a barn dance to recorded music for you – and at a fraction of the price of a live band.
Recorded music is not the same as a live band – so why use it? There are a number of reasons:
Cost
Quality and Variety of Music
Quick Set-Up
Low Space Requirements
Immediate Booking
See here for more details on the advantages of recorded music, and for some videos: Video1, Video2, Video3 (wedding), Video4, Video5 (fundraiser).
Recorded music is very popular with fundraisers and with events that need to break even (for example local events such as harvest festivals) because of the cost. I also do a number of weddings where the practicalities of a quick set up and small space requirements make having a band impractical.
There are times a recorded music event is not suitable. These are where the majority of people don’t want to dance, or when more of a "gig" is required – alternating music and dancing. With all the will in the world listening to recorded music does not have the same atmosphere as a live band. Don’t worry, though, I always check that the event will be suitable for recorded music before agreeing to it.
Just to be clear, you still get a caller, the dances are still walked through, the music is still provided, it's just recorded. All you have to provide is the floor and some dancers.
